NICARAGUA 2004 Refill Barrel Foundations Decadent Drinks

$380.00

The cultivation of sugar cane was introduced to Nicaragua in 1880 by the Pellas family, who founded the country’s only distillery in the village of Chichigalpa in 1890.

Made in a pot still, this version selected by La Maison du Whisky from Angus MacRaild, the founder of the trading house Decadent Drinks, aged for three years on-site before continuing its maturation in Great Britain.

A blend of freshness and deliciously orchestrated smoothness, its aromatic and flavor profile, delightfully indulgent and nobly spiced, shines with remarkable tonal unity and overflowing exoticism.

Tasting Notes

Colour
: Orange copper.

Nose : Ample, fresh. Very pleasant scents of incense, curry, and orange zest initially intertwine delightfully. The aromatic palette then reveals enchanting aromas of apricot, exotic fruits (mango, guava), and salted caramel.

Palate : Rich, silky. Flavors of burnt sugar cane, bourbon vanilla, and black licorice create a complex and indulgent initial tasting sequence. Then, apricots and oranges reappear, providing much freshness and juiciness to the flavor profile.

Finish : Long, indulgent. Marked by flavors of praline, roasted nuts, and candied ginger, the tasting continues with notes of cane sugar and rum baba. Nobly spiced (cardamom, sandalwood) and honeyed (heather), the retro-nasal olfaction invites us to savor an apricot tart.
